Scott is one of a small number of advisors to hold both the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations.
Background
A native of Rochester, New York, Scott’s first passion was music. Scott attended the Oberlin Conservatory, where he met his wife, Erin Hannigan, who is Principal Oboe of the Dallas Symphony. After Oberlin, Scott returned to his hometown for graduate studies at the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music. At Eastman, Scott completed his Master’s degree, Performer’s Certificate, and received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the age of 25. Scott taught music for the State University of NY at Geneseo and at Texas Christian University before embarking in a new career in personal finance.
Outside Work
An accomplished trombone player, Scott continues to perform today as Principal Trombone of the Las Colinas / Garland / Arlington Symphonies, as well as with his quintet, the Perennial Brass Ensemble. A long time advocate for animal welfare groups, Scott has been a volunteer and foster home for Operation Kindness since 2002. In his free weekends, Scott enjoys spending time at Lake Texoma with his three dogs, Livvy, Jesse, and Callie. Scott serves as a Board Member and Treasurer for Artists for Animals, a non-profit organization that raises funds for animal rescue causes.
